Illumina has recently finished working with immersive theatre pioneers Punchdrunk, creating a web-app for smart phones as part of a digital research project based on around the story of Bluebeard. It delves into new territory, exploring a world where gaming meets live performance and installation. Played out on the campus grounds and buildings of the Rose Bruford Performance College, the web-app provided the audience (the game players) with game dashboards displaying progress, a point system for credits and experience, plot based messages and location context events. Also developed was a web-based admin application for the gamesmasters to direct and stage manage performers and monitor players progress through the game from a central backstage location
