Accessibility

Accessibility

Illumina strives to deliver to the following standards on every project:

Accessibility conformance to W3C WCAG A and AA (and AAA where possible)

This means that:

  • users are able to implement user stylesheets where required
  • alternative content is served to those users with flash and / or javascript disabled
  • sites must be navigable using only the keyboard
  • sites must be compatible with assistive technologies
  • web pages 'degrade gracefully' when CSS is disabled.

Cross-platform testing

All our sites are tested on the following platforms:

  • PC - Windows Vista
  • PC - Windows XP
  • Macintosh OSX

Browser testing

All sites are tested on the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
  • Mozilla Firefox for PC and Macintosh
  • Safari for PC and Macintosh
  • latest versions of Opera for PC

Page markup

Web pages are built using validated XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.0. This ensures that:

  • an uncluttered, semantic structure underlies each page
  • browser differences can be successfully addressed via CSS
  • pages are quick and easy to maintain.
